Bertha Schaefer offers a trio which includes a painter, a sculptor and an artist who fuses the techniques of painting and sculpture in her own original brand of "constructions”. The painter, Charles Rennick, concerns himself with geometric patterns that strike more of a personal note in the coloring than in the compositions. Marguerite models small genre groups of figures that are clever and amusing in concept, and worked out with a sensitive eye for interesting form relationships. The dual personality is Zahara Schatz who has devised a medium of her own: she arranges on a sheet of thick transparent lucite compositions of metal leaf, wire mesh and other thin shapes of metallic finish. A second sheet of lucite is then laminated over the composition which is thus sandwiched in between, and the passage of light creates the varying interplay of luminous effects. On view starting December 10.
